Get to know the why behind BLOOM
Welcome to our beautiful side of the world. As BLOOM approaches its sixth year in business, we're embracing a new chapter — relocating our design studio to Wayzata, Minnesota, in 2027. After designing nearly 100 weddings in our current Waconia studio, I still feel incredibly honored that this is what I get to do for a living! Dreams can come true when you think outside the box of possibilities.
My path to floral design wasn't exactly traditional. I grew up with a very one tracked mind of "Soccer is life" until it couldn't be and then always found myself working in an array of Service Industry positions but never feeling fulfilled. Growing up in California, I was always drawn to nature and fascinated by the way flowers could thrive in the most unexpected places, even through cracks in the concrete. After moving to Minnesota and experiencing its lush, vibrant summers, I found myself taking a floral design classes to scratch a creative itch while working in Human Resources and not feeling fulfilled; that changed everything. I quickly realized that wedding flowers could be more than a creative outlet — they could be a career built around service to others while also fulfilling this creative outlet that I never knew I needed.
Before opening BLOOM Studio, I spent years designing for some of Minnesota's most respected desinger's where I learned different techniques, explored new styles and learn lessons along the way that have shaped me into the designer I've become today 12 years later. Eventually, I knew I wanted to build something of my own. BLOOM was born from a desire to create beautiful things while building a life that allowed me to be present for my boys, too. As a mom and business owner, I've learned to embrace the balance between ambition, creativity, and family — and I'm endlessly grateful that this business allows me to do all three.
Thanks for considering BLOOM,
♡ Janelle
